Popular Mechanics: Hack Attack on Tibet Groups Could Hint at China's Anti-U.S. Tactic

"Unlike defense contractors, pro-Tibet groups are more open to speaking about their experience at the receiving end of an aggressive cyber campaign. Officials at several international groups say the attacks increased as tensions rose before March 10, 2008, the 40th anniversary of China’s occupation of Tibet. "We received approximately two [e-mails with illicit software] in 2006, 40 in 2007, and over 180 in the first three months of 2008," says Sharon Hom, executive director of Human Rights in China, based in New York and Hong Kong."
