Open Letter to Hines in U.S. from a Victimized Resident of the Dongbakuai Development in Shanghai

In this open letter, a representative of the evictees from the Dongbakuai neighborhood in Shanghai makes the following requests to the Hines Interests Limited Partnership, which recently won a bid to develop the controversial site: urge the Shanghai government to provide proper housing to resettle the 19 remaining evictees, unfreeze evictees’ private assets, and immediately release Ms. Wei Qin who was made to serve Reeducation-Through-Labor for the second time. The letter also asks Hines to honor obligations to the residents set forth in the contract previously signed with the original developer.
