鲁比奥、史密斯议员就六四屠杀事件29周年发表声明(图)

美国国会与行政当局中国委员会(CECC)主席、佛罗里达州联邦参议员马可·鲁比奥和该委员会共同主席、新泽西州联邦众议员克里斯托弗·史密斯在天安门抗议活动遭中国当局暴力镇压29周年之际发表纪念声明。

两位一向关心中国人权事务的共和党议员重申要求中国政府结束禁止在公开场合以及网上讨论六四事件,并再次表示他们支持坚定执行“天安门制裁”措施以及其它出口控制措施,限制中国军方和安全部队购买可以用于监控、群体控制和网络审查的美国科技。

鲁比奥参议员在声明中说:“天安门广场屠杀事件周年纪念提醒我们,对于人类基本尊严和基本人权的渴望不只限于任何一个地区或者国家。”

鲁比奥说:“在我们反思29年前聚集在广场和全中国各地的一百多万中国公民未能实现的憧憬之际,我呼吁中国政府允许围绕那年春天的事件进行自由和公开的讨论,无条件释放那些因为试图纪念六四周年而被拘留或监禁的人,并公开清算在党和军队手中对中国人民犯下的可怕暴力。”

史密斯众议员在声明中说:“我们每年纪念天安门屠杀事件,是因为这一事件对美中关系的持续影响,因为对于那些追求自由和改革而失去生命的人来说,正义没有得到伸张。我们每年纪念天安门悲剧,是因为那是一起重要到无法忘怀的事件,是一起在中国进行纪念是如此危险的事件。”

史密斯众议员还说:“行政当局承认把我们的价值观与利益联系在一起的战略重要性,而我们在国会的人士将继续敦促他们采取既包括象征性也包括切实性的步骤,向中国人民传达说,他们的斗争和牺牲没有被遗忘。”
